§About

Every indie founder has an idea and a ghost.

The ghost is the company that already tried that idea, raised venture capital, hired a team, failed, and left behind a Wikipedia paragraph. The founder reads the paragraph, feels the weight of the dead company, and decides the idea is occupied territory.

Graveyard is the argument that the paragraph is incomplete. What killed a company in 2014 is almost never what would kill the same company today. Apple Pay launched. Stripe Atlas launched. MCP standardized. GLP-1 landed. Regulatory surfaces shifted. The ghost is not the company — the ghost is a specific configuration of technology, capital, and distribution that no longer exists.

Our job is to separate the idea from the ghost. Each autopsy tells you the configuration that killed the original company and the configuration that exists now. The Revival Score is the delta between the two, turned into a single number so a founder can scan a hundred tombstones in an afternoon and find the three worth a week.

We believe the honest tombstone beats the sanitized case study. We publish our methodology, we publish our limits, and we label Seed-tier entries so you know when our research is thin. If an autopsy helps you skip a dead end or build a better version, the archive has done its job.
